Al Idrisi: Map of Silver, Cartographer, Geographer

Tabula Rogeriana, a map drawn by al-Idrisi in 1154, one of the most advanced maps made during the ancient world. This is upside-down from the original, which had south at the top. At a time when Europe was in the Dark Ages and Classical knowledge was largely lost or ignored, al-Idrisi had great influence on geography and especially on cartography through his magnificent map of silver.
